Historical photo (INFN): The physicist Edoardo Amaldi, who was part of the "Ragazzi di via Panisperna", the study group that obtained fundamental results in nuclear physics in the 1930s. In the immediate post-war period, Amaldi promoted the creation of the first particle accelerators and contributed personally to the creation of the INFN, CERN and ESA.
